Hands-On Guidance: With limited seats available per class, enjoy personalised attention as I guide you through each step of the sculpting process for both direct plaster and lost wax bronze sculpting.
Stunning Studio Setting: Set in the picturesque Southern Highlands, experience the perfect backdrop for artistic inspiration as you unleash your creativity in my working studio setting.
Expert knowledge and instruction ensuring you leave with newfound skills and insights.
Weekend Workshop Overview:
Over two immersive days, you’ll explore:
Day 1 – Direct Plaster Sculpting
Explore the immediacy and expression of working directly in plaster:
Learn to work spontaneously and intuitively with direct plaster
Build sculptural forms from armatures to expressive surfaces
Discover methods for texturing, carving, and finishing plaster
Day 2 – Lost Wax Bronze Sculpting
Learn the fundamentals of wax sculpting for bronze casting, including:
Learning the basic process of lost wax sculpture
The importance of structural integrity when creating sculpture
Working directly with wax to be able to produce a one-off bronze casting without the need for a mould.
Principals of using moulds to achieve editions/multiple castings [NOTE - no mould making will be done in this workshop]
The original wax sculptures produced in the workshop will be sent to Sydney to be cast in bronze. Firm quotations will be provided for approval prior to any casting, and casting costs will be invoiced to and paid directly by each artist. As a price guide, bronze castings will begin at approximately $250 per piece depending on size and complexity.
Notes:
Wear appropriate messy art-making clothes.
Students wanting to work on specific projects to please make contact prior to the workshop
The class is set up for making small works [ 10 to 30cm tall ]
The studio is located in a rural area 10 minutes outside of Berrima - please bring a BYO lunch. Snacks, tea and coffee will be included.

Minimum 4 people required to host the workshop. In the unlikely instance of the minimum number not being met, a full refund will be provided. Due to the nature of the workshop, refunds outside of this are not provided.
