2-Day Etching Immersion - Southern Highlands. Spend the weekend inside one of Australia’s most evocative working press studios.
There are workshops… and then there are experiences.
Just 90-minutes from Sydney, step into the historic East Kangaloon Press Studio, a rare creative sanctuary where art, atmosphere and Australian printmaking history come together. Guided by Janie Miller and Thomas Bucich, these intimate workshops invite you to slow down, create with your hands, and immerse yourself in a world of presses, plates, paper and place.
This remarkable studio was home to the late Max Miller, an important Australian painter and printmaker associated with the revival of etching in Sydney in the 1970s and 1980s. He worked alongside many notable Australian artists, including John Olsen.
A deeper journey into the magic of line, plate and press.
Over two inspiring days, learn the captivating art of etching under the guidance of master printer Tom Goulder.
Prepare your metal plates, develop imagery, learn biting and inking processes, then print your editions using historic presses once used in the production of works connected to major Australian artists including John Olsen and Arthur Boyd.
This is a rare chance to enter the true world of printmaking—hands-on, tactile and deeply rewarding.
Includes:
• Two full days tuition with Tom Goulder
• Small group format
• Materials & plates
• Use of heritage presses
• Drinks & light refreshments each day
• Guided access to Max Miller’s studio
• Your own original etching and plate to take home
